So far in my joint venture articles I've been working on the basis that you have (or soon will have) a product (or service) to sell. And you're using joint venturing as a way of linking up with a partner .... to make a few thousand (or maybe millions!) of pounds from selling it to their customers. Because that's the usual way JVing works. But it doesn't have to be like that.

You can make a ton of money from joint venturing even if you do not have a product or service of your own. In fact, it can be an even easier way of doing it, and you can make a lot more from it too!

How? By becoming a joint venture broker!

As a JV broker, putting these deals together for others, you will be partnering up businesses who may never have heard of each other before - getting them together in a JV deal and making money for both of them - while taking a nice cut of the profits for yourself too!

To operate as a JV broker you don't need anything more than you need to set up direct JV deals. If you have a PC, a phone and, perhaps, a set of phone books then you too can set up great brokered JV deals!

In the simplest terms, here is how Joint Venture brokering works:

1. Choose a JV product or service area that you would like to work in.

2. Research potential partners in exactly the same way as you normally would. I've covered this in several of my articles.

3. Do some checking to try and ensure you do not bring the wrong companies (such as direct competitors and obviously unsuitable partners) together!

4. Contact your prospects with a JV proposal. The only difference is that this time you need to send proposals to two parties instead of just one. Again, I've covered how to do this in several articles.

5. Spend some time educating your prospects on how participating in joint ventures is going to benefit them. Remember, they might not have encountered JV's before.

6. Lastly, bring the partners together and sign the deal.

You can see that the steps are more or less the same as when putting together a deal in which you are one of the parties. Except that this time there are three parties not two with you acting as the man (or woman) in the middle.

What percentage of the profits should you take as a joint venture broker?

This is one of the most important aspects of being a broker. It depends on a few things:

* How much you want or need to make on each deal.

* How much of the profits the prospective partners are willing and able to pay you.

* How much work you do - if any.

* How fair - or ruthless - you want to be!

As a ball park figure, the standard brokerage commission is 10%. If this doesn't sound much remember that, if a typical JV deal makes £10,000 profit, then as a broker on 10% commission you would make £1,000. And remember, this is just for introducing the two parties. You don't have to do any of the work in marketing or fulfillment at all. If you were involved in just two deals a week you would still clear over £100,000 a year. And there would still be time to do direct JV deals of your own as well. Of course, if you do more work - such as helping with marketing etc. - you could make even more, perhaps up to 40% commission. Which would be £4,000 on a £10,000 profit .... well over £400,000 a year assuming two deals a week!

And it gets better. Normally with a brokered deal you would just charge one of the partners a commission - usually the one with the product or service to sell. But there is nothing to say that you can't negotiate a commission from both of the parties. You don't need to take the same cut from each partner here. You can charge each partner more or less depending on how keen they are to do the deal. And if you do more work for one partner than the other you would obviously want to take a higher percentage from that partner. Some deals will produce more than others. But the point is there is no easier way to make money than as a JV broker.

One last important thing here: Don't share any of your joint venture ideas with your potential prospects until you get them to sign a non disclosure agreement. Apart from ensuring that important commercial secrets don't get into the wrong hands it means that each partner won't be tempted to cut you out of the deal if they find out who the other partner is, but before the deal is signed. Most partners will be more than happy to do this, given the amount of money they stand to make. (I'll run through non disclosure agreements in another article.)

Once you become familiar with this process you can repeat it over and over again in more and more profitable JV brokering deals. In fact, once you build a reputation as a JV broker who can create profitable deals you should find that many businesses will actually come to you and ask you to find partners for them!

My new WordPress clients are often confused about some of the terminology of WordPress. This makes it more difficult to communicate effectively with them about what they want from their WordPress sites and blog. So, I've decided to list thetop 10 WordPress related terms everyone who uses WordPress
should know.

Term 1: Themes
A Theme is a collection of files that create the visual look of your WordPress website or blog. Themes are kinda like 'skins' that you can easily download, install and start using on your site. Themes also can include some custom features to give you greater control over the presentation and functionality of your site. In general, only one Theme can be used at a time.

Term 2: Templates
In WordPress, templates are one of several specific files that control how a particular page on your site is
displayed. For instance, your theme may have multiple page layouts, perhaps one with a sidebar and one without. There are also templates that control the top of all your pages including navigation, called a "header", the bottom of all your pages, called a "footer", and "sidebars" (see below). Templates can also be created for a specific page or post, category, and much more.

Term 3: Plugins
Plugins are a collection of files that you can download and install to add some certain functionality to your site. For instance, there are plugins for e-commerce, Search Engine Optimization, to create specific features like a calendar, or to modify how you control and operate your website. There are 1,000's of plugins, most of which are free.

Term 4: Sidebar
A sidebar is a section of your website that generally displays the along the left or right side of your pages, but
can also appear in other places, such as the footer. You can also have multiple sidebars in your site based on the templates you have.

Term 5: Widgets
Widgets are the individual blocks of content that go into a sidebar. You can easily add, delete or rearrange Widgets in your sidebars by dragging and dropping in the WordPress admin center. Many Widgets can also be edited to give you extra control over how the Widgets appear on your site. Some common examples of Widgets are simple text, recent posts, advertising such as AdSense, etc.

Term 6: Pages & Posts
Pages vs. Posts are a bit confusing and could have its own article. In general though, you want to use Pages for any single pages of content that remain in the same place on your site. Pages generally have their own navigation in WordPress and are good for pages like 'About Us', 'Contact Us', etc. You can easily select different templates for pages and they are not categorized.

Posts on the other hand are used when you will be creating multiple entries about a particular topic. You can put Posts into various Categories. WordPress will then automatically handle creating various Category pages, which will list all of the Posts in that Category, generally showing only an Excerpt of the Post and putting the Posts in chronological order. For instance, if you had a blog on Hollywood happenings, you would use Posts each time you write a new entry about some celebrity doing something stupid.

Term 7: Admin Center
The Admin Center is where you control everything about your WordPress site. To access the Admin Center you will go to a specific URL on the internet and enter your username and password. From there, you will be able to add/edit/delete Pages and Posts, control Plugins and Widgets, manage your users, and much more.

Term 8: Permalinks
How your URL's are formed is very important to Search Engine Optimization and making your pages more memorable and understandable to your visitors. In WordPress, you can easily create Permalinks, which are a particular structureto your site. Instead of using meaningless URL's like yourdomain.com/?p=8, you could have yourdomain.com/my-page/. You can control the permalinks for each Page and Post in
WordPress.

Term 9: Tags
Tags are similar to Categories, only they are less structured. For instance, you may have a Post about your
favorite Football team, which perhaps you are putting in a "Sports" category. You could also use some tags like'Football', 'Cincinnati Bengals', and 'Carson Palmer'. Using the tags makes it possible to have a list of Tags in your sidebar where people can click the different Tags to bring up all the Pages and Posts that have those particular tags. If you have a Search box, then the Tags are also used to retrieve results for the users specific search.

Term 10: Custom Fields
WordPress includes a way to create custom values that you assign to a particular Page or Post. Your Theme, or WordPress developer can then use those fields and values to create custom functionality on your site. For instance, you may want to be able to have a rating system for whatever you are writing about. A developer could set-up a custom field where you just enter your rating and then the system takes that information and makes a pretty display feature based onthe rating you assigned. The possibilities are endless with Custom Fields and are a powerful feature of WordPress.

Now you have "sweated blood "to write your article how do you go about getting it published? Well there are three main ways:-
-Manual Distribution -Semi-automatic Distribution -Automated Distribution
So let's consider each in turn:-
Manual Distribution
As the name suggests this is manually going to each individual website to submit your article. The main advantages are that you have complete control of the submission process and it is FREE.
However the disadvantages far outnumber the advantages as it is very time consuming because:-
-You have to log in to each website.
-You need to build a list of publishers.
You have to maintain this list. Things change very rapidly on the internet! People will come and go on a regular basis.You will probably get "burn out" very quickly. After all you need a lot of patience and commitment to keep going. It can get VERY boring.
Semi-Automated Distribution
This method uses software to enable you to submit your article to web sites etc. The software you can obtain varies from system to system but basically fills in the required fields on each site. This makes it easier than the manual distribution method.
However these systems are not quite as easy as they first appear as certain problems can arise. As with the manual distribution method the data base in these systems can soon become "out of date". Obviously you will have to spend time updating on a regular basis.
However quickly you can distribute your article to each website it is still going to take you some time to distribute to a large number of sites. We could be talking hours here rather than minutes! A lot of sites have "Captcha-type" codes that you have to replicate in order to prove you are human!
This again can slow down the process of submission particularly when submitting to a large number of sites. You also have to check that you have selected the right category for your article each time again slowing things down.
So yes the semi-automated system does have some advantages over the "old fashioned" manual distribution system but nowhere near the advantages of the next type of system in my opinion.
Automated Distribution.
First of all let's start with the disadvantage.
-You have to PAY. Yep there normally is a monthly fee for this service.If you are only going to submit one or two articles a month then it is probably not worth your while joining such a system.
On the other hand if you submit around eight articles per website per month as normally recommended then using an automated distribution service becomes a viable proposition.
So what are the advantages?
What are you paying your hard earned cash for?
-It minimizes your time by allowing a higher level of distribution allowing you time to write, hopefully, better articles.
-YOU do not have to keep tabs on a website data base. This is done for you.
-You are allowing the experts to do the submissions for you and have the worry of updating a data base all the time.
There are sometimes systems in place which allow you to "alter" your article so that different variations of the same article can be sent to different sites whilst still maintaining a professional image. You will need to see the company websites for details.
You can get advice from professional people who understand the "ins and outs" of article marketing who can direct you to getting the best results. The companies often have access to sites which would not be available to you on your own. With their experience the companies have knowledge of what publishers are looking for and can advise you accordingly.
